Nexxus Building, 41 Connaught Road Central, is pleased to announce that Grant Thornton has committed a lease for circa 26,500 sq ft of Grade A office space in the building. Grant Thornton is one of the world’s leading accounting, tax and specialist advisory firms and is the Hong Kong member of Grant Thornton International. This transaction brings the occupancy of the building to 85%.
Grant Thornton will become one of the anchor tenants of Nexxus Building, occupying the whole of the 5th and 6th floors and part of the 7th floor in order to accommodate future business growth in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific. Commenting on this landmark lease, Jonathan Leong, Managing Partner of Grant Thornton, said, ‘By providing a working environment that is modern and convenient, the move to Nexxus Building aligns with our growth plans in Hong Kong so that we can better serve clients in the Greater China region.’
Andrew Moore, Director of Pamfleet, commented, ‘We are delighted that Grant Thornton has selected Nexxus Building for its headquarters and we are pleased to welcome them as our tenants. We look forward to having a mutually successful relationship.’
Gavin Morgan, International Director and Head of Markets of Jones Lang LaSalle, commented, ‘The number of transactions concluded in the first seven months of 2009 and the stature of the tenants committing to Nexxus Building is a testament to its quality and an endorsement of the landlord’s commitment to provide a true Grade A office environment on the most competitive terms in Central.’
Nexxus Building is the only new development in Central available in 2009. It is owned by the consortium of Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund, Pamfleet and Gateway Capital. The building has now reached an occupancy level of 85%, and the only whole office floors available are its top two floors. Grant Thornton adds to the exxemplary tenant mix of the building, which includes multinational corporations from the financial services, hedge funds, private equity and human resources sectors such as Fidelity Management & Research, Value Partners Limited and Bowne International LLC.
Meanwhile, Nexxus Building’s five-floor retail podium has been given a new look with state-of-the-art design as it continues to attract high-end retailers and quality food and beverage outlets, including Cartier, an Omega flagship store, Heichinrou, Gvsto Pasticceria Ristorante, a new-to-Hong Kong Italian restaurant, and Market Place by Jasons. Further commitments by international retailers will be announced soon, including the opening of a high-end coffee cafe’s first operation in Asia.
